Director (Associate-Senior), Financial Planning and Analysis

Recludix Pharma is a venture capital-funded biotechnology company located in San Diego, California and Cambridge, Massachusetts. We are engaged in small molecule drug discovery for the treatment of targeted patient populations in oncology and autoimmune disease. Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning and Analysis professional with experience working in early- to mid-stage biotech environments.  A successful candidate will be skilled at developing, executing and leading the company’s process for annual, quarterly and monthly budget development and analysis, and will have experience analyzing results and communicating results to project teams, functional heads, company management and the Board of Directors.  We are seeking candidates who are experienced in all areas of biotech financial planning and analysis, and who enjoy building processes and teaching non-financial employees, with a proven track record of leadership, communication and precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead and oversee the quarterly and annual budgeting process, as well as ongoing forecasting efforts to enable Recludix to deliver on key objectives.
  • Collaborate with functional leads, project team leads and Project Management as their primary finance partner and drive accountability to annual and long-term commitments.
  • Review transactions for budget compliance.
  • Responsible for financial reporting, including monthly comparison of actual vs. budget results and relevant variance analysis, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Create monthly reporting packages for project teams and departments, including variance analysis.
  • Build out functionality of Workday Adaptive Planning to provide faster in-depth analysis
  • Perform comprehensive financial analyses, including cash out projections, variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario modeling, to evaluate performance and provide insight.
  • Responsible for driving alignment by working with the departments to understand their needs and ensuring that the FP&A function is providing the information and insights they need to make informed decisions.
  • Support accounting team on month-end closing and quarterly external reporting, as needed.
  • Educate project team leads and functional heads about the budgeting process and the importance of their role in a successful process.
  • Develop and coach team to support growth and development and achievement of goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline.
  • CPA/CFA/MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in biotech, with a minimum of 5 years in a corporate finance role.
  • Previous biotech industry experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • Industry-specific experience, with extensive understanding of clinical development and discovery required.  Commercial operations experience preferred.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, including collaboration revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability of performing in-depth analyses of company financial performance and implementing forecasting techniques.
  • Previous experience with Workday Adaptive Planning required, previous experience with Sage Intaact preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues, and ensure data integrity and accuracy of details.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform higher level interpretation of data and communication of conclusions and recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Further Information:

Salary range: $180,000 – $260,000
